You wake up, get dressed, and walk out the door without any breakfast. Sometimes you have a morning bagel or donut, but is that really a great breakfast? Is it really going to prepare you for the day ahead?
I used to have to get up around five in the morning, and the one thing I forgot almost every day was a decent breakfast. Generally my mornings were tiring, but on those days that I have a healthy breakfast my day was much better. I felt more energized, happy, and egger to do what needs to be done; and eventually I continued to eat a healthy breakfast every morning.
Now the real question is what food should we be eating for breakfast? – Well first of all, follow these 2 rules: don’t have anything too greasy (such as fried things) and don’t have anything too sugary (such as pancakes or waffles). I have also provided a list of 10 great and healthy breakfast ideas below, enjoy:
- Whole grain oatmeal with beery’s and bananas – A great breakfast. Just heat up the oatmeal in the microwave and put some frozen berries on it or some other fresh fruit like bananas. Some people also like to put almonds on it.
- Fruit salad – Add fruit such as apples, oranges, pears, melons, or berries into a bowl. Then put a little bit of lemon or lime in it and your good.
- Scrambled Eggs with vegetables (most likely peppers) – one of my favorite breakfasts ever. As a note, don’t use more than 2 eggs per serving, at least for those who want to keep their cholesterol down; try using some egg whites.
- Protean shake – Probably the healthiest if you make it right. Just through in your favorite fruit along with some protein powder and yogurt. Also, don’t be afraid to experiment; I’ve maid vegetable smoothies as well.
- Healthy cereal with orange juice – Try to find a cereal that is whole grain and maybe add some berry’s to it as well.
- Low fat yogurt – A healthy source of energy and protein, just make sure to have it with a granola bar or something similar to it.
- Grilled chicken – The best choice for those who want to get some more protein in their diet. Make sure to use very little grease.
- Sandwich full of veggies and meat – Not my favorite breakfast in the world, but hey it gets the job done.
- Meal replacement shake – One of your better choices if you need a meal fast or you’re just running late to work. I also suggest you have a protein bar with it to give your body some more nutrients.
- Protean bar – Another good choice if you’re running late to work. Full of nutrients to get you through the morning.
I don’t have the time? – Well I’m sorry to report that your just going to have to make the time. You can either pack something the night before or you can get up earlier. I recommend the second option because I like to have my food fresh and maybe have a home made cup of coffee while I’m at it.
I’m not telling you to be perfect – Don’t worry about trying do everything perfect. I like to follow a rule I call the “6 out of 7 rule.” Just try to have a healthy breakfast 6 out of the 7 days during the week and you should be fine. I personally like to make a nice greasy omelet every Sunday morning.
Well good luck to you all on your breakfast adventures! If you have any great breakfast ideas, feel free to leave a comment; I’m looking forward to reading your comments.
First of all, great blog! I love this post as well. I’ve actually been looking into trying muesli above most things since lots of people have been talking about that.
